Meet our Board

Katharine Koehler
Executive Director at Room In Our Hearts

Katharine Koehler - Executive Director

My husband’s aunt recently said to me, “You do have a way with junk!”  I think this compliment really sums me up. Since my first trip to a local house auction with my mother when I was young girl to today, I am hooked on recycling and redesigning existing furniture and household items. So many perfectly good items are carelessly thrown out and left to rot away in growing landfills. Recycling, reusing and repurposing are serious words in my life. Briefly, after earning a BA degree in Visual Communications from Kean University, I have over 25 years of experience in graphic design, advertising, marketing, project management and start-up businesses. Coupled with my extensive background in “finding good junk”, I am well suited for the role of Executive Director for Room In Our Hearts. The strong desire to “give back” is fueled by my creative spirit to design spaces that make people feel hopeful and at peace.
