Don't cry when I tell you that this solid mahogany beauty was on the curb as trash.
I guess the owner couldn't see past it exterior finish that was water stained, nicked and scratched. What the owner also didn't see was that it had dovetailed detailing, solid brass hardware, wood drawer runners and felt-lined drawers. It took two strong men to haul this buffet off the curb and into a truck. This piece had some serious weight.
Now here comes the part that will make you smile. Room In Our Hearts saw both beauty and purpose in this gorgeous old piece and turned it into an entertainment unit for a family whose home had suffered severe damage during Hurricane Sandy.
A light sanding and a quart of paint reinvented it from trash to treasure. Then came a little brass polish for the hardware followed by modge podging of paper birds to the front. A little more sand paper to add a distressed look and this family had a multi-purpose piece. It sufficiently held their TV and supplied plenty of needed storage with a piece that is unique and special.
Another trash to treasure success story!
